In Knox County, there are a total of 88 Public Schools:  49 Elementary Schools, 14 Middle Schools, 14 High Schools, and 11 Special Schools.  The school system is set up in a manner in which the elementary schools are kept smaller to provide a higher student to teacher ratio.
